WORLD WATERFOWL DAY: DUCKS, GEESE, SWANS & SCREAMERS

Celebrate World Waterfowl Day at Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy with free admission to the aviaries which will be open for self-guided tours. At 11AM & 1PM there will be enrichment and feeding times where you can view the birds behavior while chatting with their aviculturists. Enjoy hot chocolate and hot cider as you celebrate these birds that are so essential to our environment. Free.

MLK WEEKEND GALLERY TOURS: NORMAN ROCKWELL & CIVIL RIGHTS

HEIRLOOM APPLES: CIDER MAKING AND TASTING

Join apple grower Ron Bixby for a talk on orchard restoration and how to cultivate organic heirloom apples for cider pressing. 40 years ago, Ron Bixby acquired an old orchard, overgrown with gnarly little apples. Through years of careful clearing, pruning, replanting and grafting, he restored the orchard which is now thriving and producing organic heirloom fruit including Northern Spy, Golden Russet and Baldwin apples. Stay to enjoy a tasting of hard ciders from Little Apple Cidery. Free.

WEST STOCKBRIDGE CHAMBER PLAYERS: WINTER CONCERT

The acclaimed West Stockbridge Chamber Players Winter Concert will feature the Chamber Players’ artistic director Catherine Hudgins on clarinet, Sheila Fiekowsky on violin, Lisa Crockett on violin, Daniel Getz on viola, and Adam Esbensen on cello. The program curated by Hudgins with her usual ear for the unusual, is a fascinating mix of well-known and path-breaking works, including Franz Liszt’s <>Am Grabe, Richard Wagners, S. 135, Amy Beach’s String Quartet, Op. 89, Jesse Montgomery’s Source Code and Bernard Herrmann’s Souvenirs de Voyage. $35- $40.
